Career Opportunities

Our work culture
We strive to provide a positive environment where people can fulfill their career goals. We believe in maintaining the highest standards of safety and professionalism while at the same time making our workplace fun and rewarding.
We are an equal opportunity employer. We welcome people from multiple nationalities and diverse cultures through our innovative foreign worker recruitment program.
We also provide a high level of gender equity with a roughly 42% female workforce. Women are found in every position of our company, from barn maintenance technicians to senior executives.
Upward Mobility
With over 60 different types of positions, from barn workers to office workers, Big Sky provides its employees with plenty of room to grow and achieve.
We offer industry-leading training programs that includes not only job training but also career development counselling. Courses in areas such as leadership, communication, and stress management are offered throughout the whole organization.
Our training model includes the concept of a “field promotion.” In-scope workers, on the recommendation of supervisors, qualify to participate in our one-year manager training program. This management “boot camp” provides intensive instruction on the fundamentals of human resources, production, animal welfare, transportation, feed, nutrition and other key skills. Successful graduates are prepared for greater achievement and responsibility within the company.
Compensation and Benefits
Big Sky offers a fair and balanced compensation program with an above-average program of company-funded benefits. We also offer employee-funded group benefits for life insurance, dependent life insurance, short and long-term disability. After one year of employment, Big Sky also offers a matched pension plan.
Some of our more popular perks also include our “half-hog” benefit, where Big Sky provides half a pig twice per year in September and March for which the employee only pays for the cutting and wrapping of the meat. Employees also receive an annual $75 clothing credit to be used to purchase Big Sky items.
Foreign Worker Program
The province of Saskatchewan is enjoying a sustained period of prosperity that has led to an ongoing labour shortage. Faced with a very tight local labour market, Big Sky took the innovative step of working with accredited immigration agencies to design a targeted overseas recruitment program.
We have succeeded in attracting over 90 foreign workers, mainly from the Philippines. We are proud to offer these workers generous wages and benefits, and to help them settle in their new communities.
These workers have proven to be a great asset to our company. Several have quickly risen through the ranks to become managers.
Our foreign workers and their families have also brought new life and energy to our surrounding communities. In one case, a local school that previously had shrinking enrolment instead had to add on an entire classroom to accommodate the children of our workers.
Making a Difference in Our Communities
Our company and our employees have a strong commitment to good corporate citizenship at all levels.
Big Sky supports the rural way of life. Many of our employees are farms and are involved in many aspects of the rural life style. We take great pride in being part of so many communities and enjoy their support.
We are committed to continue our support not only to all our employees in those locations but also work closely with each town to support the rural lifestyle.
